The Sovereign of Mystics, Sultan-ul-Arifeen Hazrat Sakhi Sultan Bahoo (رَحْمَۃُ اللہِ تَعَالٰی عَلَیْہِ), has explicitly unveiled and expounded the secrets and mysteries of the science of contemplating the Personal Name of Allah (Tasawwur Ism-e-Allah Zaat) throughout his literary works. In various places across his books, he has also designated this contemplation by the names of Ilm-e-Iksir (the Science of Elixir) and Tasawwur-e-Taufiq (the Contemplation of Divine Assistance).
The contemplation of Ism-e-Allah Zaat is the foundational mine and treasury of all esoteric and inward sciences (Batini Uloom). Through this practice, two of the most exalted spiritual stations are achieved within the inner self: the Vision of the Divine Essence (Deedar-e-Haq Ta’ala) and eternal presence in the Sacred Assembly of the Holy Prophet ﷺ (Majlis-e-Muhammadi). These supreme stations cannot be attained through any other form of invocation (Zikr) or meditation (Fikr); indeed, there exists no station higher than these in the entire realm of the inward dimension.
The Uniqueness of the Name “Allah”
The Name “Allah” is the Ism-e-Zaat (the Name of the Divine Essence) and is exclusively specific to the Sovereign Majesty Himself. The deeply rooted scholars (Ulama-e-Rasikheen) have declared that this blessed Name is neither a root word (Masdar) nor a derivative (Mushtaq); meaning, this word is neither formed from another word, nor does any other word originate from it. Furthermore, this holy Name is never applied metaphorically (Majazan), unlike other divine names or attributes that may occasionally find metaphorical application elsewhere.
Consequently, this sanctified Name is completely pure, exalted, and free from any form of association, sharing, or metaphorical extension. Mirroring the absolute Unity of Allah Pak Himself, the Ism-e-Allah is Unique (Ahad), One (Wahid), and embodies:
لَمْ يَلِدْ وَلَمْ يُولَدْ
“He neither begets nor is born.”
The Practical Method of Muraqaba (Meditation)
While the spiritual masters of the path have formulated several methods for this contemplation, we present here a single, highly accessible approach:
1.Adopt the Posture: Physical Alignment.
The Phenomenon of the Awakened Heart (Qalb-e-Jari)
Through consistent and unwavering dedication to this Muraqaba, a transformative moment ultimately arrives when the spiritual heart independently begins to echo “Allah, Allah, Allah.” In the specialized terminology of Sufism (Tasawwuf), this extraordinary spiritual state is known as “The Awakening of the Heart“ (Qalb ka Jari Hona).
A Spiritual Reality: Once a heart is truly awakened, this inner vibration and sound can actually be perceived and heard by a nearby person of ordinary understanding, provided their own spiritual heart has also been awakened and attuned.
Once the heart is successfully awakened, it remains perpetually absorbed, night and day, in the silent invocation of the Ism-e-Zaat, continuing uninterrupted until the soul finally takes flight from its physical cage of elements (Qafas-e-Unsari). The awakening of the heart belongs to the realm of Ladunni (unveiled, directly inspired knowledge). It is a monumental spiritual blessing and a supreme fortune bestowed exclusively from the Court of Allah Ta’ala.
