The Method of Reciting All Asma-ul-Husna Together
(Surah Al-A’raf, 7:180) Translation: “And to Allah belong the best names, so invoke Him by them.”
Allah Pak states in the Holy Quran: هُوَ اللّٰهُ الَّذِیْ لَاۤ اِلٰهَ اِلَّا هُوَ ۚاَلْمَلِكُ الْقُدُّوْسُ السَّلٰمُ اَلْمُؤمِنُ الْمُهَیْمِنُ الْعَزِ یْزُ الْجَبَّارُ الْمُتَكَبِّرُ ؕسُبْحٰنَ اللّٰهِ عَمَّا یُشْرِكُوْنَ۔ (Surah Al-Hashr, 59:23) Translation (Kanz-ul-Iman): “He is Allah, besides Whom there is no other god; the King, the Most Pure, the Giver of Peace, the Bestower of Security, the Guardian, the All-Mighty, the All-Compelling, the Supreme; Glory be to Allah from what they associate with Him.”
In this verse, Allah Pak has described 10 of His Divine Attributes (Ausaaf):
-
There is no deity worthy of worship except Him.
-
The True Master of sovereignty and governance, such that the entirety of existence falls under His dominion and kingdom, and His ownership and empire are eternal, never suffering decline.
-
The One Who is absolutely pure from every defect and all forms of blemish.
-
The One Who bestows safety and security upon His creation from calamities and harms.
-
The One Who grants security to His obedient servants from His punishment.
-
The Watchful Guardian over everything, Who ensures its protection.
-
The One Who possesses such unparalleled honor and might that no example can be found, and holds such absolute dominance that no one can ever overcome Him.
-
The Essence (Zat) Who possesses absolute majesty, greatness, and supremacy in all of His Attributes. Expressing grandeur and greatness is strictly befitting and uniquely suited to Him alone, because every perfection of His is magnificent and every attribute is sublime. Conversely, no one among the creation possesses the right to display pride or arrogance (Takabbur); rather, it is only befitting for a servant to manifest humility and meekness (Ajz-o-Inkisari).
-
Allah Pak is completely pure from the polytheism (Shirk) of these polytheists. (Sirat-ul-Jinan, Vol: 10, p: 95)
Allah Ta’ala has explicitly commanded in the Holy Quran to supplicate (Dua) through the medium of His Asma-ul-Husna.
In the Hadeeth Shareef, the total number of Allah Ta’ala’s Asma-ul-Husna has been mentioned as ninety-nine (99). In relation to them, the following blessed saying of the Mercy to the Worlds (Rahmatul-lil-Aameen) ﷺ has been transmitted:
“Whoever memorizes and preserves them will certainly enter Paradise.”
The Practical Method of Recitation
When intending to recite the Blessed Names together, one should commence in the following manner: هُوَ اللّٰهُ الَّذِیْ لَاۤ اِلٰهَ اِلَّا هُوَ الرَّحْمٰنُ الرَّحِیْمُ
Continue reciting continuously until the very end. Recite the final letter of each Ism (Name) with a Dhammah (the vowel sound ‘Pesh’) and join it directly to the next Name.
However, at whichever Ism your breath breaks, do not join it to the next. Instead, stop there, and resume from the next Ism by starting it afresh with “Al” (the definite article Alif-Lam).
There is no specific or restricted time fixed for the collective recitation (Majmu’ee Wird) of the Asma-ul-Husna.
Please share this forward, considering it an act of perpetual charity (Sadqa-e-Jariya).
